#BlackberryBack? As of today, BlackBerry has appointed Alicia Keys as their Global Creative Director. During her role as a Global Creative Director, Mrs. Keys will foresee app developers, content creators, retailers, carriers and the entertainment community to further shape and enhance the BlackBerry 10 platform, and inspire creative use through its remarkable capabilities and functionality.
Below is a statement from BlackBerry President & CEO Thorsten Heins.
“Alicia Keys has come to BlackBerry because she believes in the product and technology, and subscribes to our overriding philosophy to “Keep Moving”: to empower people through mobile computing and communications,” said BlackBerry President and CEO Thorsten Heins. “We are excited she will be bringing to us her enormous capabilities, as well as a vast network of relationships in the entertainment, social media and business communities, to help shape our brand and grow our business.”
UPDATE: Alicia Keys has been released from her services as “Global Creative Director” at Blackberry. Ironically her last day will be on January 30th, 2014 which is the same day the position was announced. Here’s a statement below from the company.
“We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented and passionate individual,” the company said in an emailed statement.

Last month BET taped this year’s 2013 6th annual BET Honors which was held at Washington D.C.’s Warner Theater. The event was hosted by Gabrielle Union which honored TD Jakes, Halle Berry, Lisa Leslie, Chaka Khan, and Clarence Avant. Music performances are provided by Erykah Badu, Brandy, Ledisi, Mint Condition, and Alicia Keys.
After being announced as the new Global Creative Director for Blackberry, Alicia Keys continues to break boundaries and records. Alicia Keys fifth studio album Girl On Fire was released in November and sold 150-175k during it’s first week.
Her album “Girl On Fire” has been certified platinum be surpassing 1 million units. 1,106,000 total to be exact.
