Jay Kell officially hands over his debut project entitled, “Muddy Melodies”. The project seems to be a drawn out conversation between Kell and himself as he spits some crafty lyrics throughout the compilation. Muddy Melodies covers an array of topics everywhere from depression, joy, dream chasing, marriage, family, self hatred, addiction and many more. The project features production from fellow Cloud Vijon member, The Others Beats, and Beats by Relli.
The duo of dead prez have always been on the forefront of socially conscious Hip-Hop. Over time, the two have branched of with independent projects of their own, though they have individually stayed with the same narrative in their music. Most recently, Mutulu took his organizational expertise overseas to create the ‘Very Important Politics’(VIP) EP produced by Italian producer Bonnot. The premier track from this international offering is “Sacrifice”, a Hail Mary call to all soldiers in the struggle for Freedom, Justice, and Equality at home and abroad. In lieu of the recent police killings of unarmed Black men around the country and the global response to the grand jury decisions, M and RBG affiliate Divine present raw footage of guerrilla activism at work in the visual of this very timely release. The VIP EP is slated for release next year.
Treie gives us the visual set to go along with his track “I’m In My Mode.” This feel-good track carries an interesting set of visuals. Take a look and check out his full project Expensive Free Shit as well.

Back in April, Durham’s own The Koolest (Danny Blaze and Dinero P) released their LP, Nerds at the Kool Table, which contained features from Rapper Big Pooh, Pac Div, Thee Tom Hardy, Kourvioisier and more. A couple of days ago, the duo released the third single “Dressed To Kill” accompanied with a visual. The video looks like it was shot in Durham (don’t quote me on that), but this is one of the stand outs from the LP.
Check out the official video after the break.
