Last night, Trinidad James performed at the Converse Rubber Tracks event which was held in NY, and after performing TJ decided to get a few things off his chest. Trinidad goes on a mini rant about the Atlanta sound, and how it’s running New York City. He says the NY rap scene has fell off, and remembers when New York rap was the sh*t. Even though he’s speaking his mind about it, you can’t necessarily get upset with him. He’s sorta speaking the truth especially when half of New York artists are chasing that “Atlanta sound”. Did anyone else catch the shout out to Elliott Wilson though. Lol.
When you say real shit people call it a melt down. That's fine. The truth will set you free……#CrazyDeacon
Last night on The Arsenio Hall Show, Childish Gambino was the guest and he discussed his hopes & fears, and also the reasoning behind rapping. Gambino also spoke on his instagram messages, the reason why he left the show Community and more. Childish Gambino always speaks how he feels, gotta respect that.
Also Gambino debuts a brand new song entitled “Shadows”, which will be on his forthcoming album, Because The Internet. This song sounds really good, and we’re looking forward to his album.
Check out the album cover & tracklisting here, and watch the “Shadows” performance along with the interview.
First and foremost, “Late” by Kanye West is definitely top five out of his catalog to me. Anyways, last night in in Los Angeles Odd Future held their annual Camp Flog Gnaw. The festival included the return of Frank Ocean along with Mac Miller, Flying Lotus, Earl Sweatshirt, as well as a surprise performance from Kanye West. He performs the single “New Slaves” as well as the 2005 Late Registration featured “Late” along with Tyler, The Creator. Although Ye said he hasn’t performed it in 6 years Tyler helps out with the lyrics.
Making his debut appearance on television in the United States, The Weeknd performs on the late night television show “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. He performed new cuts “Pretty” & “Professional” from his debut album, Kiss Land. Along with previous records like “High For This”, and my personal favorite “Wicked Games.”
Purchase the album here. Check out all the footage after the jump.
Last night, Drake performed a new, unheard track from Nothing Was The Same. In my opinion, this track exceeded my exceeded my expectations; when I saw the track title and the feature, Sampha, I thought that it’d be a sung song. But, to my surprise, Drake raps over a mellow beat and exemplifies his versatility. Most of Drake’s fans prefer when he raps, because when he does, he’s one of the best (if not the best) rapper/lyricist around.
Gotta love a Ye televised performance. Kanye West made a surprise performance on Jimmy Fallon tonight and performed his brand new single “Bound 2″. Backed by The Roots and a kids choir, with Charlie Wilson, Kanye West switched it up and performed this for the crowd. Did you peep the Ray J diss line in the performance. Yeah, I need a CDQ version of this live performance ASAP.
The year of the holograms. Anyways, we miss Ol Dirty Bastard in the hip hop world but modern technology has become so great these days. Wu-Tang Clan were at day 2 of the Rock The Bells festival which was held in San Bernardino, California. They brought out a hologram ODB for the fans, and I must say I wish I was in attendance for that one. R.I.P. ODB.
