Legendary group The Roots are prepping their forthcoming album, And Then You Shoot Your Cousin. The album is preceded by the first single “When The People Cheer”, which was debuted last week. Today, The Roots release the unique album cover for the album, along with the release date. The artistic album cover is definitely eye catchy, and the release date will be May 20th, 2014.

Here’s another brand new NQM Submission from Canadian hip-hop artist Mike Boyd. A couple of days ago, the Halflife Records Inc/Universal Music Canada recording artist Mike Boyd released the official video for his latest single “Small World/Fly Like A Butterfly” which features Toronto rapper D-Sisive. The bouncy feeling visuals showcases the cold climate as Mike Boyd raps his way around his city and we got to admit this is FIRE. It’s very catchy and the sample from the record is tight as well. This was featured on his recently released …Note the Sarcasm, which is produced entirely by Classified and features fellow Canadian artists Madchild, D-Sisive, Shad, and Classified, and is available on iTunes now.

Today’s NQM Submission comes from Vancouver’s own Immerze. The Universal Music Canada emcee is prepping his forthcoming EP Dayton Spokes, but first he releases a visual aid for “4500KM n Running”. Immerze provides us with a brillant black & white landscape for the Chemist produced track, and it sounds really good. Immerze brought along his crew including Richie Mcfly to document the entire trip in the Philippines. The performance was captured at 7107 International Music Festival in Clark Pampanga. Dayton Spokes will be available on May 4th!

Talk about a trippy visual. Childish Gambino releases the official video for his Problem adlibs assisted visual for “Sweatpants”. Gambino repeats the same routine over and over and gets familiar with himself as well. It’s very weird, but in a good way, so what more can you expect from Bino. The visual always transitions into the album cut, “Urn” which is one of my favorites on that album as well. Off his latest album, Because The Internet which you can purchase here.

At last night’s 2014 Coachella Music & Arts festival, the multitalented Pharrell took the stage. Pharrell took over the stage for about an hour and some change and performed some classic records. Along with performing some past hits, Pharrell performed cuts from his latest album, GIRL and also brought out some special guests. He shared the stage with, Diddy, Tyler The Creator, Busta Rhymes, Gwen Stefani (yes, Gwen Stefani), Nelly and more.

Last night at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, the legendary Nasir Jones performed the entire debut album, Illmatic in full for the fans. Believe it or not, Nas had a teleprompter to ensure he wouldn’t miss any lyrics. Smart move Nas. During his set Nas brought out JAY Z to join him for “Dead Presidents” and also my personal favorite “Where I’m From”. Alongside bringing out Hova, Nas also brought out Diddy to grace the stage and perform their cut, “Hate Me Now”.
Check out the full set in it’s entirety after the break.
Last night as promised, the legendary duo Outkast (Andre 3000 & Big Boi) made their return and performed at this year’s Coachella Music & Arts festival. If you missed it, don’t worry, OutKast has about 40 more stages and venues to grace. The ATLiens performed their own solo cuts as well as their fan favorite records, while including performers Janelle Monae, Sleepy Brown and Future. Future also debuted his Andre 3000 featured “Benz Friendz (Whatchutola)” around the 1:07:00 mark. Watch the nearly two hour full set after the break!
They shoulda threw the Baha Men on this joint – lol I’m playing. On something serious though, Charlie Hustle is doing exactly that, hustlin’, and he enlists Taylor Gang’s Berner to accompany him on the official West Coast remix of his tough new record, which lives on his Charlie’s World Vol. 1 project out now. Go ahead and hit that stream below.
