Talib Kweli Reveals “Prisoner of Conscious” Pushback; Says No Plans for Black Star Album

Talib Kweli reveals to Rolling Stone, once again his forthcoming album, Prisoner of Conscious has suffered yet another pushback. He tells RS, that the new release date for the album will be April 23rd, 2013. The album is set to feature Melanie Fiona, Nelly, Miguel, Curren$y, Kendrick Lamar, and more.

Also, if you’re like me, you would love to see a brand new Black Star album. According to the “Get By” emcee Talib Kweli there are no plans for a forthcoming album. Even though Bey and Kweli tried their hand at creating an Aretha Franklin-themed mixtape. They recorded close to four records, including “Fix Up” and “You Already Knew.” Talib says, “Black Star’s future depends on timing and schedules.”

“At the center of being socially conscious is your community – it’s where you come from, what type of person that it made you, and how you give back to that. And it’s a cycle,” he said in a phone interview. “With me it’s like, ‘Oh, he’s a great lyricist,’ but they don’t focus on the music. I think it’s because of how I’ve been sold and how I’ve been marketed as some sort of poster boy for underground rap.”
